Frequently Asked Questions
1
What do you use as a reference?
Once we decide upon your subject matter, I'll travel to your site to take photographs. Working from photography as opposed to live models ensures convenience for you and your subjects, and provides me with maximum flexibility. Photographs of people can be candid or posed. That said, I'm not beholden to the reference image; if you prefer a pose from one photo but a smile from another, photos can be composited together. I'm also happy to switch out backgrounds, change the color of a shirt, or make other small edits during the painting process.

What mediums do you work with?
My standard mediums are oil on canvas and pastel on paper, but if you can name the 2D material, I can make you something with it. I can accommodate any size or dimension you need. At this time, works on paper don't include framing.

What if I want to make changes?
I'll ask your feedback across the different stages of the process, from image selection and composition, to linework, to updates on the painting itself, to your approval of the finished product. I'm always happy to make any change you'd like. I can create sketches upon request if you need further visualization before making a choice. I'm unable to make further changes once final approval is given and the painting has left my studio.

How long will it take for me to receive my painting?
Depending on the size and complexity of your painting, oil paintings take two to four months to complete. I work in batches, so if you order a series, you'll receive three or four paintings at a time. Works on paper can be completed in two to four weeks.
